Es hat sich in den letzten Tagen abgezeichnet, seit gestern Abend ist es amtlich: Die GSMA hat den Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona restlos abgesagt. Damit findet die weltweit grösste Mobilfunkmesse in diesem Jahr nicht statt. Aufgrund der Coronavirus-Epidemie sieht man keine Chance, um die Messe trotzdem durchzuführen. Schade, wirklich schade.
Was jetzt mit den Herstellern passiert, die ein Event am bzw. im Vorfeld des Mobile World Congress geplant haben, ist nicht bekannt. Xiaomi ist einer dieser Hersteller, die vor wenigen Tagen in einer Stellungnahme nochmals bekräftigt haben, dass man am MWC wie geplant teilnehmen möchte. Diese Pläne wird man nun überdenken müssen.
Möglich, dass Xiaomi und die anderen Hersteller, welche auf dem MWC 2020 eine Pressekonferenz geplant haben, nun auf Livestreams umsteigen werden. Wir bleiben am Ball und berichten zeitnah, wenn es Neuigkeiten dazu gibt. By-the-way: Heute stellt Xiaomi schon mal in China die neuen Flaggschiff-Smartphones Xiaomi Mi 10 und Mi 10 Pro vor. Since the first edition of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2006, the GSMA has convened the industry, governments, ministers, policymakers, operators and industry leaders across the broader ecosystem.
With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.
The Host City Parties respect and understand this decision.
The GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other for MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions.
Our sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world.
